About the programs

The two-year Journalism Print and Journalism Broadcast programs at Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ont., provide students with the basic skills to get started in a career in journalism. Whether they register in the print stream or broadcast stream, all students take a common first-year curriculum that provides hands-on training in basic news writing, audio capture and editing, video shooting and editing, as well as desktop publishing. The second year is designed to enhance students’ aptitudes in the technologies of their choice.

In the fall of 2010, Conestoga launched the New Media: Convergence program, a one-year postgraduate program aimed at providing students who already hold a degree or diploma with the skills to succeed in the quickly digitizing newsrooms of today.

For more information on any of these programs, contact Larry Cornies, coordinator of Conestoga’s print journalism, broadcast journalism and new media programs: lcornies@conestogac.on.ca.
